Al Michaels Tells A Heartwarming Story About Kirk Herbstreits Dog

Al Michaels tells a heartwarming story about Kirk Herbstreit’s dog

Kirk Herbstreit’s dog, Buddy, was there when he needed him

Kirk Herbstreit is one of the most respected voices in sports broadcasting. He’s been calling college football games for ESPN since 1996, and he’s also a regular contributor to SportsCenter. Herbstreit is known for his insight, his humor, and his passion for the game.

But Herbstreit is also a devoted family man. He and his wife, Allison, have three children, and they also share their home with a beloved golden retriever named Buddy. Buddy is more than just a pet to Herbstreit; he’s a member of the family.

Buddy was there for Herbstreit during his darkest days

In 2003, Herbstreit was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. He underwent surgery and radiation treatment, and during that difficult time, Buddy was always by his side.

“Buddy was there for me every step of the way,” Herbstreit said. “He would lay on my chest and just keep me company. He was a constant source of comfort during a very difficult time.”

Herbstreit’s cancer is now in remission, and he’s grateful for the role that Buddy played in his recovery. “Buddy is my best friend,” Herbstreit said. “He’s always there for me, no matter what.”

Buddy is a special dog

Buddy is a 10-year-old golden retriever who loves to play fetch and go for walks. He’s also a very intelligent dog who knows how to make people laugh.

“Buddy is a very special dog,” Herbstreit said. “He’s a part of our family, and we love him very much.”
